MUSIC AND ITS HISTORY

DJAVAN

Djavan Caetano Viana was born in Maceió, Alagoas’ capital, on January 27th 1949. He inherited the musical talent from his mother, who used to sing songs by Nelson Gonçalves and Ângela Maria (famous Brazilian singers back then) pretty much all the time.

Despite his passion for music, at the age of 16 Djavan decided to try the soccer career. He became a professional player for the CSA (Alagoa’s Sports Center) team, in Maceió.

However, musical vocation spoke louder in Djavan’s life.

Two years after having started as a soccer player, he was invited to be part of a musical group called Luz Som e Dimensão. After some time he decided to quit professional soccer to dedicate to his artistic career. He sang succesfully in concerts and festivals of Alagoa’s capital before getting known in the whole country.
