MUSIC AND ITS HISTORY
DIANA
KRALL
Diana Jean Krall was born in Canada, on November 16th
1964.
Following her parents’ path – they are
musicians as well – Diana played her first notes
over the piano, when she was a 4 year-old. By the
age of 15 she played jazz for restaurant customers
in Nanaimo (her hometown). In 1981 she was offered
a scholarship to study in the Berklee College of Music,
in Boston, USA.
After finishing college she moved to Los Angeles,
where she met the biggest supporter in her career,
Jimmy Rowles. Jimmy noticed that besides playing,
Diana could also sing beautifully.
In 1993, Diana Krall recorded her first album in
Canada. In 1994 she went to New York and since then
she has been recognized as one of the greatest jazz
interpreters in the world. Diana Krall got married
to the British musician Elvis Costelo in December
2003.
